The description of competencies for the Polish Sign Language (level A1 and A2)will be the first school pupils oriented publicly available curriculum of Polish Sign Language. In the course of work, we will use the Description of Language Education in its version adapted to the specificity of sign languages (as part of the PROSIGN project conducted at the European Center for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe). The above approach to the description of competencies is characterized by the task-oriented assumption of communication acts, taking general competences into account, linguistic communication competence, which consists of linguistic, pragmatic, and sociolinguistic components, language activities (broadcasting and receiving texts), mediation and interactive activities, a distinction of 4 zones of life: public, private, professional, educational; tasks, strategies, and texts.
Due to the visual-spatial modality of the Polish Sign Language, some elements will be developed in the form of an annotated record and the form of video materials containing the indicated sign texts.
The description of competencies for the Polish Sign Language (level A1 and A2) will help (among others) in conducting lessons of Polish Sign Language in both mainstream and inclusive and special education environment.
